My Brothers & Sisters in Christ
I am honored to welcome you to our campus and to your first semester at Hellenic College & Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. I am glad that I am one of the first of many people to welcome you as the 2007-2008 Campus Activities Board (CAB) Director. This letter is to inform you about our committee and to tell you about some of the upcoming events planned for this year as well as to give you the opportunity to become involved and give us your ideas and input.
The Campus Activities Board is the acting social committee and activities coordinating committee of the student body here at HCHC. The purpose of our committee is to open our arms of love and to embrace every child of God by providing them with opportunities to grow with one another and in the Orthodox faith as well as to grow in their social lives as devout Orthodox Christians. We are not simply the party committee but we bring both opportunities to grow socially as well as spiritually.
Our committee plans events such as monthly movie nights, our Feastday Panigiri (festival), Spiritual Retreats, as well as our famous end of the year Boat Cruise and Commencement Dinner Dance, just to name a few!!! These events are open to all students and there are events open to all members of our community including families and professors. With this we invite you to become involved with our organization as well as with the many other organizations on our campus. Our committee will hold bi-weekly meetings in which all students are welcome to attend. CAB fliers will be posted around campus at various spots and announcements will be made about events and meetings daily in chapel and in the dormitory.
We hope your experience on campus will be unforgettable and that the next few years can be spiritually uplifting as well as enjoyable. If there is anything that we as CAB can do to make your time here more special please bring it to my attention or to the attention of any of this year's CAB members. This year's members are: Priscilla Callos (second year Holy Cross), Elizabeth Mellas (first year Holy Cross), Nicole Hillas (third year Hellenic College), and Nikki Smyrni (second year Hellenic College). We are dedicated to work hard for our student body and to create growing opportunities for all.
May God Bless your journey in whatever you are here to do, and let us work together to make this place a community and a more enjoyable place to live!
In His Service,
George Athanasiou
