Holy Cross Chapel

The Holy Cross chapel was built in 1962 in Byzantine style through the efforts of the Greek Orthodox Youth of America.  This beautiful chapel, serving the worship needs of the students of Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, was actually built to replace an older chapel that was destroyed in a fire.  It is dedicated to the memory of Archbishop Michael and the founders of the Greek Orthodox Youth Organization in the Americas.  In the area directly behind the sanctuary apse of this chapel three great hierarchs of the Archdiocese of America lay to rest: Archbishop Iakovos of North and South America, Metropolitan Silas of New Jersey and Bishop Gerasimos of Abdydou.  The chapel contains various relics of saints as well as a piece of the true Holy Cross which is brought out for public verneration of the feast day of the chapel on September 14.

The office of the chaplain is responsible for the administration of this chapel. During the school year daily services are scheduled as well as Sunday liturgies and liturgies for major holidays.  These services facilitate the liturgical training of students and seminarians on campus but are open to the public also.  The schedule for these services may be viewed at the Chapel Schedule link of the hc/hc website.  One may also be informed of the monthly chapel schedule by calling: (617)850-1698.  For specific questions one may contact Fr. Philip Zymaris, the chaplain of Holy Cross, at (617)850-1288 or click here.
